Just a reminder Spring season is LONG COURSE METER (LCM) competition season. We are hopeful to have some STSL meets which will be completed in Short Course Yard Pools (SCY), summer session also has some SCY and SCM meets which are appropriate for Novice, Intermediate and Senior level swimmers. The LCM meets in the Spring and Summer will be available to our INTERMEDIATE and SENIOR swimmers. Please see below for more details on the LCM and SCY meets.
Long Course Meter (LCM) swim meets will be swam in 50 meter lanes opposed to 25 yard lanes that we swim in for practice. The Horseheads High School, Corning High School, and Corning Middle school pools are all Short Course Yard (SCY) pools. (please see the attached photo for reference and size comparison). LCM meets are appropriate for our more seasoned swimmers, Intermediate and Senior level swimmers. The events and distances in the LCM meets require more endurance and more technique than the majority of our Novice level swimmers are ready for. As a club we are dedicated to ensuring ALL our swimmers are safe and have a great experience! At this time Spring and Summer LCM meets will ONLY be available to Intermediate and Senior level swimmers. Again this is for the safety of your swimmer and also to ensure our younger swimmers do not get overwhelmed with the significant difference in the length of the pool (more than double the SCY distance, an OLYMPIC sized pool) the distance. Below is more information regarding SCY vs LCM pools. We are hopeful to have STSL league meets this summer which will be swam in SCY pools, as always this information can be found in the meet announcement. Any questions please reach out!!
