Swim Meet - January 27th
Hi Parents,
As of right now we are scheduled to host a swimm meet on January 27th. The signup for jobs is on the team events page.
The meet information has not been created and we do not have the listing of events as of yet.
Please take a minute to decide how you want to help with this event. It takes a tremendous amount of effort from EVERYONE to make sure the event is successful. It is important that everyone pitches in to help so that all parents are able to see their swimmer swim. That is why we all go!
Some of the jobs that are available need some training that is available on the USA Swimming website --- meet marshall has a required course to be completed......
The meet marshall is the person that is down on deck and makes sure that parents don't go in locker rooms. This person is also making sure that people are not on deck that are not suppose to be on deck. This person also does a sweep of the locker rooms to make sure everything is safe and secure. There are other responsibilities for this position but those are a few. This is the person you see at meets that is typically wearing the safety vest. Last year I believe our meet marshalls also had shirts that said Meet Marshall. We need to have at least 1 male and 1 female throughout the meet. It is much nicer if we have 2 of each. This is a great way to be on deck!
The runner is the person that will take the result pages and post them in the hallway.
The Head Timer runs 2 stop watches - if a lane timer has a faulty stop watch the head timer will replace the faulty one with one they have started.
Lane timers are needed for each lane. We try to have 2 for each lane. The other teams SHOULD provide timers but not all do. If we have extras itallows people to have breaks to watch their own children swim and to be able to use the restroom as needed.
Clerk of Course these are the people who line up the swimmers and get them to the deck for their event. This is especially helpful for the younger swimmers but since we are doing all age groups in 1 session all events will use the clerk of course. Swimmers are use to this - we have had a clerk of course at both STSL meets so far. Having multiple Clerks of Course will allow for a smooth meet.
Concessions This has been broken down in to 1 hour segments with 4 people - hopefully you can pick a time that your swimmer will not be swimming when you are working - depending on where we set this up you can probably sneak away to see your swimmer swim. If we can get 4 people for each hour, there should be no problem making sure you see your swimmer in action.
