Victor Meet Information

Susanne Vedder

Hi parents,

Hopefully this information will help first time swimmers and parents. We received some information from the host site for the meet that is important for ALL swimmers regardless of whether this is the fisrt meet or 100th meet.

Please read the following carefully.  Plesae talk with your swimmers about this information.  It makes everyone's life easier and less stressful if swimmers are prepared when they get to the meet.  If this is the first meet your swimmer is going to, they may be excited but stressed all at the same time.  Hopefully this will help alleviate some of the stressful items.

AM session - Swimmers will be allowed on deck at 7:45.  The meet is full.  There will be lots of people in the stands. There will be lots of swmmers on the deck.

Our AM warmup will be using lane 4 and lane 5.  Lane 5 is shared with Liverpool Jets. Our warmup time is set for 8:20 to 8:40.  From 8:40 to 8:50 all swimmers will be doing sprints for warmups.  The meet will start at 9:00.

This meet is full.  It will run 4 hours. There are 208 swimmers in the AM session.

Swimmers will be using a "flyover start".

There is a clerk of course for Session 1, (12 and under swimmers).  Please have your swimmers aware of this.

Swimmers will be lined up for their event and brought to the pool. Swimmers need to listen to the announcements during the meet.  Officials will call for events to line up and report for lineup.  Swimmers need to be paying attention to what is happening at the meet.

We will have 2 coaches.  They have a very busy job!  They are making sure swimmers are getting where they need to be, but they are also watching swimmers in their events.  They are often videoing events so they can work with your swimmer to make the experience better and to be able to show swimmers what they did during their event.  Swimmers need to be aware of what is going on so they don't miss their event.  They host team will not be able to get swimmers in a different heat if they missed their event.  It is full.  Swimmers need to make sure they hear the events being called and report for the lineup.  The coaches are busy coaching, encouraging, and making sure all swimmers are getting where they belong.  Please do not try to talk with them about how your swimmer did during the meet.

Concessions will be open during the entire meet.  There will be food and drink available to purchase.  It is much better if your swimmer comes prepared with lots of water to stay hydrated and some healthy snack options from home.  Fruit is always a good option.  Please stay away from sugary snacks.

Please encourage your swimmer to cheer on their peers.  If there is time between your swimmer's events, what better way for them to stay engaged at the meet than to cheer on and encourage their teammates?  Swimmers respond and like to be encouraged.  If they want teammates to cheer them on, they need to cheer on their teammates as well.

Programs will be on sale 30 minutes before the warmup sessions begin.  Typically programs are between $2 and $5.  The programs will have events, heats, and lanes.  The events are what you chose when you signed your swimmer up for the meet.

Signed up but not going to make it to the meet? If for some reason, you will not be at the meet- your swimmer gets sick, for example.  PLEASE let us know.  The host team appreciates it when we are able to let them know when a swimmer is not in the event/meet.  Coaches also worry when swimmers don't come to the meet.  We don't know if you were on your way and are lost and you are still coming, if there was an accident that is holding you up, car problems, etc.  It is nice to be aware if you are not going to make the meet.

You can text me, 607-846-8361 and I can relay it to the coaches.

Plan for leaving - Please decide whether you are staying until the end of the meet or if you are leaving before the end.  Not every swimmer will be in the final event of the session.  Please have a plan for your swimmer.  Are they meeting you in the stands or are you meeting in the lobby?  It is often difficult to get your swimmers attention when they are on deck and you are in the stands.  You can decide this when you get there and see the facility.  Please try to let your swimmer know where you are in the stands.  It is comforting for the younger swimmers to be able to find parents in the stands.

PM Session-- Please plan on arriving around 12:45.  There are 194 swimmers in the afternoon session.  The meet will last about 4 hours as well.  PM Warmup will be using lane 8 for warmup.  We will be sharing the lane with Liverpool Jets.

Warmups will begin 10 minutes after the completion of the last event in Session I, but no earlier than 1:00 p.m. The officials will clear the pool 50 minutes after the beginning of warm-up. Meet Starts 10 minutes after clearing the pool.
